MONTREAL - Have you ever wanted to travel to Ireland but decided financially Montreal would be a better option for the pocket book? Then I have the solution for you- Ye Olde Orchard Pub & Grill. From the minute you step into Ye Olde Orchard Pub you’ll feel like you have just walked into a quaint pub somewhere in lush greenery of Ireland. There are beautiful Celtic designed crown mouldings along the floor and ceilings (Monkland location), exposed wooden beams (de La Montagne location), and wooden tables for your dining experience (all three). The pubs are all decorated with an abundance of Irish touches and beer memorabilia for you to admire and enhance your desire to plan a trip to the green hills when you are done your meal. The staff is extremely friendly and is bound to make your dining experience very enjoyable. Their work uniforms are quite special as well because they wear quilts (yes that even includes the men who actually enjoy it a lot of hot summer days). This little detail really adds a touch of Celtic charm to the establishment. Aside from the welcoming staff and great ambiance is the delicious food. A mix of everything for just about everyone- pastas, salads, seafood dishes, and of course what pub wouldn’t be complete without the essential pub grub (burgers, fish & chips, etc). My favourite is their beer battered fish & chips; three golden, crispy but flaky filets served with a mound of house fries. Part of the reason that I enjoy this meal is because they are not too greasy which a big turnoff for my palette. Although I have eaten here many times and have yet to find a dish that I didn’t enjoy and best part is they won’t leave you broke. The Ye Olde Orchard also has quite the beer selection for the beer aficionados out there. At their Monkland location, they have 15 beers on draft and many others in bottles. Their bartenders are also very skilled in the art of making a good drink if you happen to dislike the tastiness that is beer. On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays, there are live music performances- fiddlers, guitar players, and singers to complete your mini vacation dinner. These musicians usually start playing around 9 or 10 p.m. when the restaurant becomes more pub-like. However, if you happen to be there for dinner I strongly suggest you stick around for the music it will be worth your time I promise. Check the website for the full list of musicians and where they are performing. The Pub also serves breakfast on weekends, Saturdays from 9 a.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. I never been for breakfast; however I am pretty sure that it must be as good as the rest of week and one of these days I will have to give it a try. If you beat me to it, feel free to share your experience with me, I would love to hear it. 20 Prince Arthur Street- (514) 845-77721189 -- De la Montagne- (514) 874-1569 -- 5563 Monkland Avenue- (514) 484-1569 -- Fourth Location coming soon to West Island |
