Med Grill
Montreal | $$$ | Website
This notable St. Laurent scenester has been a favorite of Montreal’s young, gorgeous clubbing crowd for a few years now, and doesn’t appear to be slowing down. Regularly attracting the city’s revered hockey stars after Saturday games, alongside the regular crowd of socialites and young professionals, Med can be a tricky place to get into for the Regular Joe that isn’t a model or toting one along. It’s definitely a see and be seen kind of crowd, helped by its fishbowl corner location along the main nightlife thoroughfare.
Med’s design is a strong point, mixing a bit of modern with 70s kitsch. It is sexy and warm at the same time, with dinner tables (oh yeah, this is a restaurant too) spaced out enough to leave room for dancing should the mood strike, and it usually does. Things get going around midnight, when wine bottles make way for bottle service and the music volume turns up a few notches.
Try Med if you’re a trendy traveler wanting to get the feel for a real Montreal supper club experience, or a luxury traveler who is most comfortable hanging out with the moneyed and fabulous.

Good Service, but bad atmosphere
Med Grill is indeed for the Top of Montreal people….or at least that is what people tell them. I have been to this restaurant on several occasions and honestly has never been my style. I, the trendy traveler does not really enjoy sitting down with most people that I would never relate too.
On A restaurant front I would have to say that it does do it justice. They have a nice wine list, that is not too expensive and the food choices are very clever and selective. This is the place where people can sit back around 9pm, have dinner and then stick around for the party that would usually begin around midnight.
If you feel that you would like this type of crows and service than check it out!

Rather spend my money elsewhere
I would have to classify this place as one of the most snobby and pretentious places I have been to!!! I don’t mind paying money for good food along with good service but I have to say that this place is WAY over priced for the quality of food that they are serving but at least they have some good service (although it doesn’t compensate enough for the exorbitant price they charge).
The restaurant turns into a night club so many of the patrons go for dinner and then stay to party by buying a bottle so the average age group for this place is between 20 – 35. Although you might run into the occasional hockey player while partying, this place is far to pretentious and filled with posers. When it comes down to it, I would simply rather spend my money elsewhere.

Thanks for the scoop, I haven't been there in a while.
Overall I was pleasantly surprised
I’d never been to Med before my visit in January ’09, and expected something a bit snobby and pretentious. While the people were beautiful and some there clearly had the holier-than-thou look on their face, overall I was pleasantly surprised. The service, which doesn’t have the best reputation in the city, was friendly and skilled for the most part, though the 3 bus boys who came over every few minutes to try to clear our very unfinished plates were a bit annoying. I get the feeling that I would have felt a bit out of place on a busier Saturday night, but for a few drinks and some appetizers (which were really good and generous), it was just right.
